11/21 2040: Tamaqua Fire Department, Rescue, EMS, dispatched to 125 Orwigsburg Street for a house fire.
E776 responding, followed shortly after by E782 and E784. C772 responding, update to working structure fire. Per PD on scene, heavy fire multiple wires down, multiple vehicles on fire. C772 on scene and in command, requesting second alarm and RIT response. Fire at 129 and 131 Orwigsburg. E775 enroute followed by crew on L770. Multiple other engines responding. PPl requested to expedite.
E776 on scene on side A, pulling master stream and Blitz Fire. 3 connected homes, all fully involved. Multiple master streams in operation. East End and Citizens establishing lines from the rear of the structure also with heavy fire. Blitz fire set up between 129 and 127. Line stretched into 127, crews looking for extension. All companies to abandon structures at 129 and 131 and move to defensive operations. Heavy fire all division 2 and 3.
Hand lines in operation on vehicles. No extension noted to 127. Coaldale tower on scene, requested to go to rear to set up to deluge roof. All manpower requested to side A. Structure was deluged with water for some time. Crews able to enter division one from the rear, noted that staircase in 131 is compromised. Crews entered from side A and C into 129, fire noted in the wall along D side, overhaul in process. Rear operations with heavy fire on Division 2 C wall, cannot get to it. Crews able to access division 2 from 129 and locate fire on C side, overhaul and extinguish. Heavy fire now on division 3. Crews able to access and extinguish.
After 2 hours, fire reported under control, crews continue to search for hotspots. Crew requested to do another search to assure 129 was is clear. Nothing found. Requested to wet everything down as they exit the structure. Crews remained on scene till about midnight and started to be released. Bulk of crews cleared by 0100, while crew remained on scene for investigation and monitoring. Investigation of cause and origin is ongoing.
